Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how ToughTail ("ToughTail", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information about you when you use our websites, mobile and web applications, devices and accessories, and other online services that link to this Policy (collectively, the "Services").
This Policy applies to information we process as a "controller" or "business". It does not apply to third‑party websites, services, or integrations that we do not control. Your use of the Services is also subject to our Terms of Service.
This Policy is not legal advice. Laws vary by jurisdiction. Please contact us with questions or to exercise your rights.

Sources of information
You provide information directly when creating an account, purchasing, pairing devices, inviting guardians, contacting support, or otherwise using the Services.
Your devices and apps automatically transmit telemetry and location data needed to provide functionality you enable (for example, Live Tracking, Safe Zones, and alerts).
We receive information from partners and service providers (for example, payment processors, analytics providers, fraud‑prevention services, cellular carriers) and from publicly available sources where permitted by law.

Communicate with you about features, updates, security alerts, and administrative messages; you may manage marketing preferences in the app or by using unsubscribe links.
Research and development, including debugging, analytics, and improving performance, reliability, and battery life.
Fraud prevention, security, and compliance with legal obligations, enforcement of our terms, and protection of ToughTail, our users, pets, and the public.
Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK/Switzerland)
Contract: Processing necessary to provide the Services you request (for example, operating your subscription, locating a device, or sending alerts).
Legitimate interests: To secure and improve the Services, understand usage, and prevent fraud—balanced against your rights.
Consent: Where required, for example, for certain cookies/analytics or when you choose to share location with guardians. You may withdraw consent at any time.
Legal obligations: To meet recordkeeping, tax, and regulatory requirements and to respond to lawful requests.
Sharing and disclosure
Service providers and processors who perform services on our behalf (for example, hosting, data storage, analytics, customer support, payment processing, cellular connectivity).
Guardians and people you invite. You control which trusted contacts can view a pet’s location, alerts, and activity.
Affiliates and corporate transactions, such as a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset sale.
Legal and safety: To comply with law or valid process, enforce terms, and protect rights, property, pets, or safety.
We do not sell personal information. We also do not share personal information for cross‑context behavioral advertising as defined by certain U.S. state laws.
International transfers
We may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for transfers from the EEA/UK/Switzerland.
Retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Factors include the type of data, the length of your relationship with us, and legal requirements. You may request deletion as described below.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for safeguarding account credentials and managing guardian access.
Your privacy rights and choices
Access, correction, deletion, and portability: You may request a copy, correction, deletion, or export of personal information.
Marketing choices: You can opt out of marketing emails via unsubscribe links and control certain notifications in the app.
California and certain U.S. states: You may have rights to know/access, correct, delete, opt out of sale/share, and limit use of sensitive information. We do not sell personal information. Submit requests by emailing privacy@toughtail.com. We will verify your request and respond as required by law. You may use an authorized agent.
EEA/UK/Switzerland: You may have rights to object or restrict processing and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality, analytics, remembering preferences, and security. You can control cookies at the browser level and, where required, through consent tools. We do not use third‑party cookies for cross‑context behavioral advertising.
Do Not Track: We do not respond to browser DNT signals at this time.
Children’s privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the age required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child provided information to us, contact privacy@toughtail.com and we will take appropriate steps.
